  • Explore our enchanting Orpington Chicken world! Discover our beloved Bantam Orpingtons, a rare breed here in the United States. We don't know anyone who has not heard of Buff Orpingtons, known for their charm and larger size. Don't be misled by the name — our Bantam Orpingtons are a good size, making them ideal for everyone. These cute chickens are not just low maintenance due to their smaller size and reduced feed needs but also make wonderful pets, particularly for families in suburban areas, with their friendly nature and love for human interaction they can be a great addition.

  • They tend to not like nipple waterers and prefer easy drinking methods like cups, etc.

  • The Orpington Chicken was originally bred and Descriptionduced in 1886 by William Cook and named after his hometown of Orpington in Kent, UK. The breed was created by mixing the Minorca, Langshan, and Plymouth Rock breeds. It was originally known as the Black Orpington and this was the only color available as William Cook wanted a breed that would exhibit well in the dirty environment of London.

The Bantam variety of the Orpington Chicken was developed in the 20th Century by Herman Kuhn, a German breeder. The Bantam Orpington Chicken has all the characteristics and physical attributes of the larger variety but in miniature form.

The Bantam variety also comes in a wider variety of colors including Red, Barred, and Birchen.

  • We recommend starting baby chicks out with Sugar Feather Farm chick starter for the first 3 weeks, then switch to our Chicken Grower. Use the Grower Feed until they hit maturation (which is when they start to lay) then switch to Sugar Feather Farm Adult Feed.

We highly recommend using the Oil of Oregano in their water daily as a supplement to aid with digestion and overall health.
